BACKGROUND:
The photograph analyzed here was acquired by the Mast Camera (Mastcam) onboard NASA’s Mars rover Curiosity on Sol 4098 (2024-02-15 17:41:53 UTC).

ANALYSIS:
I present the grey-scale photograph as well as the debayered full-colour image that has been processed from the raw, monochrome data captured by the digital camera’s sensor available on the Analyst’s Notebook (NASA Planetary Data System website).

Furthermore I feature multiple anomalies with a metallic-like appearance. Seen is a part shaped like a container, ripped on the one side with what looks like a pipe coupling on the other side. Another part looks like ripped sheet metal. Some of these are very smooth and seem to be reflective. There is also strange part that looks sculpted, almost in the shape of a head and face (pareidolia perhaps, but this item is totally out-of-place).

Could this possibly be wreckage from a failed Mars mission that we are not aware of, perhaps a destroyed sculpture, or something else?

As always, until we get to see these anomalies up close and personal, I can only speculate as to what these objects might be.

ANALYSIS:
Featured here is a machine-like part consisting of three layers or parts, the top part looks almost like a hatch or lid, then there is the strange pipe sticking off the side.

The researcher, Richard Hoagland and team, originally discovered this item which is also featured in my friend and Executive Producer, Brian Dobbs’ documentary Blue Planet Red. Tim Saunders reverse engineered this item and designed a 3D model of it. I encourage you to watch the documentary to see the result. Tim also conducted experiments of metal exposed to CO2 and found that the metal erodes much the same as it appears to do on Mars.

As always, until we get to see these anomalies up close and personal, I can only speculate as to what these objects might be.

ANALYSIS:
Featured here is a colour version of the cylindrical object I previously featured. The colour photograph was downloaded from the Analyst’s Notebook (PDS). The Analyst’s Notebook has many more photographs (including additional colour photographs) which the public Rover Curiosity website does not. To access the Analyst’s Notebook you need to sign-up/register.

In the previous video featuring this item in B&W I indicated it has a metallic appearance, in this colour photograph it does, in my opinion. I estimate the object to be about 20 cm to 30 cm in length or larger. It’s difficult to tell for sure as there is no scale indicator for this photograph. This is not a sample return cylinder/tube as only Perseverance Rover has those.
