BACKGROUND:
A sequence of twenty photographs taken by the Perseverance rover are analyzed here. The first in the sequence was captured by the Right Mastcam-Z camera on Oct. 4, 2025 (Sol 1643) at the local mean solar time of 21:24:39 and the last in the sequence was captured by the Right Mastcam-Z camera. Mastcam-Z on Oct. 4, 2025 (Sol 1643) at the local mean solar time of 21:33:35.
ANALYSIS:
3I/Atlas has just passed Mars and strange objects have shown up in the Martian sky.
The largest of these is a cigar-shaped object which was seen in both Left and Right Navcam photographs taken at the same time.
At the same time that this object was photographed another camera onboard the rover captured a sequence of twenty photographs showing multiple objects passing over the rover in the Martian sky. This sequence is around nine minutes in duration.
Could these objects be accompanying 3I/Atlas or could they be probes deployed as 3I/Atlas passed Mars?
As always, until we get to see these anomalies up close and personal, I can only speculate as to what these objects might be.
