BACKGROUND:
3I/ATLAS is passing the Sun and the LASCO instrument onboard SOHO Solar Observatory was unable to photograph it.
ANALYSIS:
Here I feature an article published to Naked-Science.ru on the 20th of October 2025. The article highlights the fact that 3I/Atlas was not detected by the very sensitive LASCO instrument onboard SOHO. I also show a series of photographs taken by SOHO from the 19th to the 21st of October 2025.
It’s strange that SOHO has detected so many comets in the past, yet this huge object avoided detection. To date NASA still hasn’t released any HiRise photographs of 3I/Atlas (the website was last updated on 1 October 2025). The ESA is also quiet and hasn’t published any news about 3I/Atlas since 7 October 2025.
