BACKGROUND:
The photograph analyzed here was taken by the Right Navigation Camera onboard NASA’s Mars rover Curiosity on Sol 4607 (2025-07-22 22:10:38 UTC).
ANALYSIS:
Featured here is what looks like an oblong object streaking past leaving what appears to be a contrail behind it. The main object has the appearance of a disc photographed from the side (side view) with a narrow rectangular part mounted to it. The anomaly, in my opinion, doesn’t look like a typical meteorite burning up in the Martian atmosphere. Did the rover photograph a craft or was this an artifact caused by the camera?
As always, until we get to see these anomalies up close and personal, I can only speculate as to what these objects might be.
THE ANOMALY ON MARS:
Following is the photograph taken by the rover as well as close-up view of the anomaly:
The image below shows the anomaly up close. Located to the left is the anomaly upscaled using Gigapixel and to the right the anomaly upscaled using conventional image upscaling. Note the similarity in shape and outlines. Gigapixel upscales preserving edges whereas conventional upscaling produces blurred images.
